What is soil compaction and how to avoid it
Understanding soil compaction is very necessary if you want to get success in gardening. Soil compaction is a process when soil is compressed and becomes very dense. In this situation water and air is not able to pass through.Soil becomes almost useless for the plants until it is not treated. Plants will not be able to expand their roots and will stop growing or may die.
Insert Hand Trowel in the soil for 3-4 inches and turn the soil. Do this all around your plant but make sure you are not cutting the major roots of the plant. Leave the plant as it is for one day and then water it. Please remember there should be right moisture in the soil while digging.
If compaction happens in the lower part of the pot, it will damage the plant root system. If you see that water is not coming out from holes of the pot in the bottom, pull out the entire plant and change the soil or at least repot it again so that compaction is getting removed.
