Bonsai also known as “Tray Planting” is a Japanese gardening art form in which a complete tree is grown to its full shape and scale in a small tray or pot.

Bonsai plants are a little expensive plants as it takes a very long time to grow in its full shape and scales and requires lots of patience and effort to grow. Typically bonsai takes 5 to 10 years or even sometimes more depending on plant variety to look like a miniature tree. Proper care and pruning is required to maintain the shape of a bonsai.

The most expensive Bonsai tree is sold for 1.3 million dollar at the International Bonsai Convention in Takamatsu, Japan. This was about 800 years old Pine Bonsai Tree.

The oldest Bonsai in the world is placed at the Italian Bonsai museum. This is a Ficus Bonsai tree that is reported to be over a thousand years ago.

Even the top two individual bonsai holders in the world are from India.
