Kokedama is a way of growing plants in a soil ball covered with moss. Kokedama in English, literally means “Moss ball”. It is also known as poor man’s bonsai.

This form originated in Japan and currently followed across the world.

You can find lots of Videos on YouTube for Kokedama making. For making Kokedama well drainage soil mixture is wrapped in a ball shape around the plant roots and after that this ball is covered with moss with the help of jute twine or nylon wire . There are multiple plants which can be grown in Kokedama specially ornamental plants, bonsai and orchids. Once made Kokedama can last for 2 to 3 years depending on the care level.

Plants which are grown in shade are best suitable for Kokedama. We should regularly water our Kokedama as moss can be dried very easily.
